Founded in October 2024, The Wee Hours is a dedicated charity providing essential supplies to homeless individuals and rough sleepers in Edinburgh. From underwear and toiletries to tents, sleeping bags, and bottled water, we strive to meet immediate needs with care and compassion.
Our small but committed team currently operates one van, distributing supplies every Friday night at Waverley Bridge between 9:00 and 10:00 pm. We work in close partnership with the care van that provides hot food and drinks, ensuring those in need receive both nourishment and essential items.
To expand our outreach, we aim to extend our Friday night service and introduce a Saturday night distribution.
We welcome donations of any kind, whether it's a single pair of socks, toiletries, snacks, or a financial contribution to support the van and storage unit. Every little bit makes a difference. Our JustGiving page is available for those who would like to contribute financially.
If you're interested in volunteering, we would love to have you join us for an hour on a Friday night to help distribute supplies. A warm smile and a kind word can mean the world to someone in need.

A boy and girl, can't have been more then 17 stood in front of me. He has no shoes on and soaked through, she is in pj's and a pair of slippers. They were brought to us by our regular guests at More Than A Meal, a breakfast service for the homeless and those in food poverty. I've helped lead the service for 5 or so years now and these young ones stayed with me more than anyone else. Cold, soaking wet, no idea where to go and taken in by our guys who had nothing to give but protection. Living in Edinburgh, we have a large transient homeless population and hostels can easily become full and shelters close in the evenings. Many new comers arrive at night and have no idea what to do. I want to help change that in a small way by providing a weekend overnight van in the center of Edinburgh to hand out warm clothes, sleeping bags, roll mats, toiletries, snacks and information to anyone homeless who needs them overnight. In this day and age, no-one should be cold, soaked on the streets. No-one should be sleeping on a pavement shivering. I can't fix the world, but I can try to be a friendly face and a light over night.
